Film Junk Poll: Who is the Best Batman?

We’ve seen a lot of criticism of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice over the past week, but one of the things that many people seem to have genuinely enjoyed in the movie is Ben Affleck’s portrayal of The Dark Knight. Christian Bale just didn’t cut it for some fans, but an older, bulkier Batman was a welcome change and people seem to be interested in a new solo Batman movie starring Affleck. With that in mind, it seems like an appropriate time to look back on all of the actors who have portrayed Batman on the big screen over the years and throw them in the ring together. Note that I included a couple of voice actors but I didn’t want to go too far down that rabbit hole, so I limited it to voice actors for animated projects that actually got a theatrical release. So what do you say… who is the ultimate Batman? Cast your vote in this week’s poll and then sound off in the comments below!

Keaton all the way. Besides he’s the funniest and embraces the inherent goofiness of a man dressing up as a bat.

  • Captain Morgan

I thought Ben Affleck was actually great. I’m as shocked as anyone. He was the best Bruce Wayne. Bale remains the best Batman, but not by a huge margin.

  • Jameson

Kevin Conroy is in his own league.

  • Indianamcclain

He won’t win this poll, but Keaton’s Batman will always hold a special place for me.

  • LordAwesome

    West. Pure West.

  • Stinker

Monday its pale, then its West, Friday is sunshine, then its Bale. And every even Sunday it Keaton.

  • Christian Bale, srsly? He’s British!! And his Batman voice is ridiculous. Kevin Conroy is the best by far.

  • Anthony

Ok…who are the three smartasses voting for George Clooney?

  • RockJoker

    Keaton all the waaay

  • Lori Cerny

The people voting for Bale are obviously confusing the best Batman films with the best Batman. Sean is purposely trying to skew the polls.

  • Sean

Hey why am I the one skewing the polls? I voted for Adam West!

  • devolutionary

Even comic book Batman has his doubts. I voted for the mayor too.

  • woo

Best Batman? Bale. Best Bruce Wayne? Clooney. Clooney embodies the billionaire playboy.

  • ReelJunkie

Is it really fair to throw in the voice actors in this mix? If we are going by voice only it’s easily Kevin Conroy.

As for the live action films… as much as I hated BvS, I’ll have to go with Affleck. I was on board with the casting since day one and he did not let me down. He was great as both Wayne and Batman.

  • Alex Krajci

2008’s The Dark Knight Is My Second Favorite Film Of All Time.

  • Alex Krajci

    Christian Bale

  • Voted Keaton… IMO the best Batman movies are in the Dark Knight trilogy, but not because of Bale, I really dislike the way he talks when he suits up…

I wonder if a silent Batman would ever be considered, there’s something about silence that adds to the creepy factor, plus then they could make a cool full face mask.

I haven’t seen any animated versions (except Lego movie I guess) but no matter how good the voice is I’d have a hard time saying they could be the best since the visual aspect is lacking.
