Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland was one of those movies that just happened to be in the right place at the right time, capitalizing on the desire for more 3D films in the wake of Avatar and kicking off an endless line of live-action fairy tale adaptations in Hollywood. While it makes perfect sense that this movie should get a sequel after grossing over $1 billion, I am wondering how much interest there is for Alice Through the Looking Glass, especially considering that Tim Burton is not directing. Personally, I’m not feeling the excitement, but I suppose the star power of Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Mia Wasikowska and Sacha Baron Cohen shouldn’t be questioned. This is also Alan Rickman’s final performance but the movie is going up against X-Men: Apocalypse which probably won’t do it any favours. Alice Through the Looking Glass is directed by James Bobin (The Muppets) and hits theatres on May 27th; check out the new trailer after the jump and see what you think.
