Yesterday we received official word that a fifth Indiana Jones movie is happening and that Harrison Ford will once again pick up the whip and fedora for the role. However, there is still plenty of speculation going around that the movie might introduce a younger actor in flashback sequences, setting the stage for a new series of prequels down the road. While that is still just a crazy rumour, this week we are getting closer to finding out who will actually play a younger version of Harrison Ford’s other iconic character. Lucasfilm and Disney are said to be closing in on a lead for their young Han Solo movie with three actors in particular rising to the top. The frontrunners are as follows:

• Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!, Running Wild)
• Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction, Sing Street)
• Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Eddie the Eagle)

THR claims that there could still be other actors in the mix but that these three are most definitely on the shortlist. Something tells me we could still end up with an unknown in the role as over 2500 actors have supposedly auditioned for it. The Han Solo anthology movie will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie) and is expected to hit theatres on May 25th, 2018.
