Ben-Hur Remake Trailer Starring Jack Huston

While some studios are hesitant to remake movies that are considered classics, MGM does not seem to have any such qualms, having already remade plenty of well-regarded films from their back catalogue including Robocop, Carrie and Poltergeist. This year they’ve got redos of both The Magnificent Seven and Ben-Hur on tap and the trailer for the latter has just arrived online. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Wanted), this looks to be an amped up CG version of the 1959 epic that won 11 Academy Awards. We can only hope that at some point Ben-Hur throws a horse at someone. Ben-Hur stars Jack Huston, Morgan Freeman, Toby Kebbell and Nazanin Boniadi and it hits theatres on Aug. 12th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

This compared to the previous versions is like playing a racing simulator on a NES instead of doing the real thing.

This is so totally gonna bomb it’s hard to believe no one at MGM is realizing this.

My God, what is this? Death Race 50BC? Casablanca is owned by Warner, so this will not be remade. Remaking is the last Straw of the once great Studio MGM. Please do us a favour and die. Otherwise there will be a remake of Night at the Opera…….starring…….
