Back-to-Back guest spots! Great to have Dax return to the fray! I’ll be interested to hear him either praise or tear down Michael Bay when that premium is released.

    Diggin’ Barry!

  • Andrew Dixon

“Fank in the shitter” segment almost killed me.

  • Dax Gordine

Haha thx Devolutionary! and yes the Michael bay premium was gold baby GOLD!

  • TP222

Dax, What is the link of your facebook comic? I am not finding it.

  • devolutionary
  • TP222

Gracias. Yep, I wasn’t looking at the right thing at all.

  • Kurt

I was definitely not a fan of Synchronicity: http://www.rowthree.com/2015/08/05/review-synchronicity/

  • devolutionary

I think Jay magically hit the brown note with his rendition of Wild Horses. Frank had to take a dump immediately after. Loved the toilet commentary!

  • basementdweller

Dax needs to become a regular already. He’s awesome!

  • Judge Scott

Force Awakens is still about 800 million behind Avatar so it isn’t a given, Frank, that it will surpass it. It’s trailing off now too so if it does surpass Avatar it will be really close. It’s mind boggling that Avatar made close to 3 Billion.

  • Corey Pierce

I am a Manifesto Denier in that I alphabetize almost everything together, and only recently seperated TV (though even with that there is some argument to be had).

One thing I did though, not to the extreme of the blu ray clipper guy, is get a membership on some dvd cover forums, who specialize in scans and customs, and printed out english versions of all of my bilingual covers. This meant having the ‘wrong’ cover for some of them, but i dont care. I now have a nearly English only spine collection now and couldnt be happier.

  • yonato

Me too bud. Been a while since I’ve laughed this hard. Cream Dream Surprise indeed!

  • Tum Tum Tyranus

I had no idea Colossus is in Deadpool but it was worth being slightly spoiled for that Jay Cheel fanboy moment.

  • Sean

FYI: I believe your review is quoted on the Wikipedia page.

  • Adam

During the Bay Preme listening to Frank try and champion Martin Lawrence over Will Smith it becomes painfully clear that Frank is all about Martin because he, Frank, is the Marcus Burnett to Jays Mike Lowrey within the Film Junk universe.

  • Sean

Interesting… you must send some pictures of this so we can evaluate further.

  • Tommy

Maybe it’s cause I’m an NZer, but Frank calling Moana Moano cracked me up.

  • Dax Gordine

    thx again Devo! :P

  • Kurt

    Cool. Good to know!

  • You would call that a spoiler? A character that appears in all trailers?

  • I know it’s been debated at length before, but if the main review is going to be less than 20 minutes because you’re trying not to spoil, PLEASE just do a spoiler review. I feel strongly that if you don’t want a movie spoiled, you shouldn’t listen to a movie podcast’s review of it. If spoil-phobes want a general impression from you guys, isn’t that what star ratings provide? I dislike getting a vague half review and then having to skip to the end or wait to hear your real thoughts.

  • Jonnie123

Being in the UK I don’t get to see these films until sometimes a long time after the Film Junk review, so I appreciate being able to listen to a spoiler free review. Is it really preferable to you that we shouldn’t be able to listen at all, simply to save you the inconvenience of waiting for the spoiler section at the end?

  • Who’s to say you couldn’t listen? I’m just saying they should include the spoiler section in the main review, when they say spoilers coming, you can check the show notes and skip ahead. I think the responsibility to skip around should be on those who don’t want to hear it. Yes, it’s a minor convenience, I’m not up in arms about it.

  • Sean

Unfortunately I don’t think there is a perfect solution for this that will make everyone happy. We are kind of assuming that the people who are sensitive to spoilers outnumber the people who aren’t. Especially since a lot of people don’t see the movies we review right away. I suppose it would be easier if we did the reviews right at the end of the show but we’ve kinda settled on a flow that we prefer at this point.

  • Hugo K.

One of the best Junk Mails in a long time. Had me dying with laughter with Frank and Jay’s assessment of his collection. Adam needs to send a follow up.

  • I get it, not a deal breaker in any case. Thanks for responding Sean.

  • Sean

No prob. For the record, I think we’re all for full spoiler reviews… it would definitely make our lives a bit easier.

  • I assume upon hearing the reaction to his email, his facade of being happy with his decision crumbled and the true weight of what he has done is really sinking in. He basically created a movie collection version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, might as well torch the whole thing and start from scratch.

  • Kasper

The toilet remote was a definite highlight of the episode!

  • Adam (not that Adam)

    LOL

  • I know very little about Celebrity Apprentice, but Jessica Alba could actually be interesting on the show. She runs her own business (more than one I think) already. She’s smart.

  • Talking animals. Paddington was one of the best films of 2015.

  • 2016 Most Anticipated (not including giant blockbusters):

    10. Stephen Gaghan’s Gold
    9. John Hillcoat’s Triple 9

  • Adam C.

I sent Sean an updated e-mail along with several comparison photos of some of the DVD’s and Blu-Rays in my collection. (Here are just a couple of shots comparing my two copies of ARMAGEDDON. One is my ‘converted’ DVD and the other is the official Blu-Ray release.) I still stand by my insanity. ;-)

  • Adam C.

My ‘facade’ is still very much in place Sir, I assure you. ???? I know that my extreme solution is not for everyone, but it’s worked out great for me. (The whole “SHALLOW HAL” analogy that Frank made was pretty much dead-on I’d say.) Here are just a few of my converted DVD’s. A ‘random sampling’ if you will.

  • Sam

I like it as is. Ideally, I would like everything all together at the beginning of the show, but then there are certain movies I definitely would not want spoiled so that does no good. And if you leave the review to end of the show, it would feel like the /Filmcast which is endless television talk for an hour or more before getting to the review.

I like getting the review right at the top of the show, or better yet, immediately following a tale of a recent customer service experience.

  • Nathan

At least there’s no french on the spines.

  • Xavier’s Walking Shoes

I vote for Dax to get a Letterboxd account. Get on it!

  • Mister Quigley Jr.

Jay, you need to find either the Chuck E Cheese kid or the You’re Flat dude and make a short. Preferably both at once.

  • Adam C.

Of course there’s no French! (I do have SOME standards after all!) ????

  • This is why we switched to full spoiler reviews several years ago. A) It’s easier. B) It’s a lot more fun to talk about the movie we’re reviewing and C) a spoiler-free review of a movie is often not a review at all; it’s just a bunch of rambling that doesn’t always make sense without context.

For Film Junk, I’d say do some spoiler free review, then say, “Spoilers now” and do the rest of the review with spoilers. I like to keep the flow of the review going when I listen so I want to go right to the spoiler portion of the review, which is kind of a pain since it’s all the way at the end and I have to “find” it.

  • Yeah I don’t think Star Wars is going to catch Avatar at this point. Not in ticket sales anyway.

  • LordAwesome

It won’t surpass TITANIC never mind AVATAR.

  • Nobody

Sean, it sounds like you’re still on the first season of The X-Files, but if you get to the season 4 episode titled “Home,” please give an update. That’s definitely one episode that should stand out.

  • TP222

I agree. I don’t even listen to the review until I watch the film. (Thanks for putting the times)

  • Sean

And here I thought no one was excited for Independence Day: Resurgence!

  • Sean

I’ve seen Home (which is great) but the weird thing is I have no idea how I saw it since I probably didn’t see the initial airing and it supposedly hasn’t been re-run since. I think The X-Files used to be on Space in Canada, maybe that’s where I saw it.

  • Reed Farrington

Coincidentally, at Jay’s birthday party, we were talking about fav X-Files episode and mine was “Home.”

  • DrewNugent

I think the Cinecast way of reviewing films is the perfect way. Just talk about the movie without tiptoeing around spoilers, but put a little warning in front of every review. Then everyone that doesn’t want to be spoiled can simply fast-forward.

  • FDB

This looks nowhere near as bad as I was expecting, tbh.
