First Clip from Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers

With the Sundance Film Festival currently in full swing down in Park City, Utah, the first reviews of some highly anticipated movies are starting to trickle out… you know, movies like Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers. This is the follow-up to Tusk and the second installment in his “True North Trilogy”, which finds him continuing down the rabbit hole of microbudget horror and terrible Canadian humour. The reviews do not sound promising, but critics so far have at least been relatively kind to Harley Quinn Smith and Lily-Rose Depp. If for some reason you are curious, Smith has released a short clip online… just do yourself a favour and do not watch it sober. The release date for Yoga Hosers is still TBA; check out the clip after the jump and see what you think.

I’m an American so I have no authority to say if this is insulting or just plain dumb stab at “Canadian” humor stereotypes and cliches. I’d be really interested in what Sean, Jay and Frank opinions are. I did like Tusk, but felt the “Canadian” jokes were softball and kinda obvious.

  • Sean

It’s not insulting, it’s just brutally unfunny.

  • Thurston

Yeah…I didn’t laugh at anything in the clip either.

  • rusinchicago

    wow that is bad

  • 5OF4

    The dudes accent is distracting.

  • Eh-dam

Depps daughter needs to get away from any further Kevin Smith collaborations before his stink taints her inherited clout.

  • Claws Longtail

I gave up on Smodcast when Kev started iPad fact checking his every thought. But, I still enjoy his movies. They are fun to watch, original, and usually have some surprising scenes out of left field. I look forward to this.

Someone should have told Kevin Smith that Canadians don’t use the Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior terms for high school or college/university.

  • Venger

I want to like Kevin Smith. He seems like a genuinely good guy, very much a people person and always reaching out to help up and coming filmmakers. He just gives the impression he doesn’t give a fuck about producing a film of any decent quality, choosing purely to catering to his fanbase.

For the love of Zeus, please don’t let him get his hands on any properties I have any interest in watching. He’s already managed to weasel his way on directing an episode of the Flash. Fuck knows where that will lead to.

  • TP222

wait, what part of that was supposed to be funny?

  • Deven Science

The acting seems really bad. That’s a bummer, as I like KS, and want to like his movies. I wish that he would have evolved as a filmmaker over the years, and improved himself as his one time colleagues such as Linklater and Rodriguez have.

  • Deven Science

    Yep, rookie mistake.

  • 9No

Meh. I’m still gonna watch it tough…
