A couple of years ago, Penn Jillette and his buddy Teller took on the art world with their fascinating documentary Tim’s Vermeer. Now this year Jillette is teaming up with director Adam Rifkin (Detroit Rock City, Look) to dissect found footage horror films in a strange meta experiment. The movie is called Director’s Cut and it finds Jillette playing Herbert Blount, a disturbed man who takes over a crowdfunded horror film by stealing the footage and kidnapping the star. He then proceeds to reshoot and re-edit the film, inserting his own voiceover narration into the final product. Director’s Cut co-stars Missi Pyle, Harry Hamlin, Hayes MacArthur, Lin Shaye, Gilbert Gottfried and Nestor Carbonell and it will premiere at the Slamdance Film Festival later this month.
