First Photos of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange

Marvel opted not to release any sort of teaser trailer for Doctor Strange before the holidays, which makes sense because it’s still almost a year away, but this week we are getting our first look at Benedict Cumberbatch donning the Sorcerer Supreme’s red and blue robes. EW is featuring Doctor Strange front and center on this week’s cover and they have also released a handful of images to go with it. One of the images is particularly intriguing in that it illustrates how some of the movie’s visual effects will pay tribute to the psychedelic era from which the comic was born. In addition, they have also confirmed that Mads Mikkelsen will be playing the film’s primary villain, although his name is still being kept under wraps. Doctor Strange hits theatres on Nov. 4th; check out the photos after the jump and see what you think.

Well, hope it is good. Otherwise there is still the deerstalker and a nice little loft in 1892 London. But then again picture can be misleading, so there could be a good movie hidden in there pictures.

I’m not sure what to make of it. But it looks damn near perfect to the comic version.

I’m so excited they are actually doing the classic costume! Somehow, I expected a red trench coat over a blue suit or something.

Finally! A movie about Dr Orpheus from the Venture Bros.
