I never noticed the resemblance either until Frank mentioned it. I think Canadians think all English women look alike. Now that I think of it, I think Ridley reminds me of Lena Headey or Olivia Williams. Must be the squinty eyes. Theirs, not mine. :-)

  • Andrew Dixon

You don’t get it Jay; you have to praise it more because the fans want you to.

  • Andrew Dixon

There’s gonna be a huge backlash in a year or less. The problem is that people can’t separate their enjoyment from what you could call and “objective” stance.

  • LordAwesome

The “objective stance” is that it’s far better the prequels, which is all anyone could have reasonably hoped for.

  • Andrew Dixon

Which is not a huge compliment, wouldn’t you say? The Star Wars movies seem to be compared only to the other films in the franchise, which is not film criticism, but Star Wars criticism. I loved TFA, seen the thing a couple of times; I would say it’s a good Star Wars movie, but in terms of even 2015 blockbusters, it’s not amazing.

  • LordAwesome

What seventh entry in a series is “amazing” much less one that is following three stinkers?

    Perspective is needed.

  • Andrew Dixon

I don’t get what you’re trying to say.

  • Andrew Dixon

What are you trying to say?

  • Jay Cheel

    Reed has summed it up.

  • Jay Cheel

I say right off the top that I enjoyed the movie but didn’t LOVE it. I also state clearly that my review will be a focused attempt at trying to figure out why I didn’t LOVE it. So, rather than gush over the costumes and lighting, I attempted to understand what it was about the story and characters that didn’t completely resonate with me.

  • dolfinack

Indeed…same film, same plot, same solution.

  • Stinker

Happy new year all filmjunkie and lets break 600 Mark in 2016, from Krautland.

  • Captain Morgan

Guys, this episode was just beautiful. From having Reed, Dax and Matt on all at the same time as well as the return of the Gasman and all reviewing Star Wars. I’m creaming here.

Jay’s customer service story – loved it. Mr Cheel is a natural storyteller.

Finally, please record Greg’s laugh and insert it randomly throughout future episodes. I’ve missed it dearly. Never fails to make me grin.

  • Balls

About 30 seconds after I said it, I knew I was wrong, but there wasn’t an opening for me to get back to Bea Arthur. There was something big about ‘Maude’ though. First show to do an abortion storyline maybe?

  • frankw35

Yes, you are correct sir–at least the first sitcom as far as I know. It had probably come up on legal or medical dramas before. And if you didn’t see my other comment it was fantastic to hear you again–I may have to “force feed” Ball Junk even though I don’t really follow sports.

  • So far Star Wars hasn’t had any flashbacks or forwards as part of it’s narrative… I guess some could argue that when Rey touched the lightsaber those were flashbacks, but not in a traditional sense. Also, it’s almost automatic that after the opening crawl there will be a camera pan to a spaceship, that (I’m hoping) will always be a given.

I’m pretty happy with the overall story, biggest gripe being the dialogue line that reveals Kylo’s father, it just felt clunky & and unnatural. Other gripe of course bring death star 3.0 and the circumstances around it’s destruction.

  • HuckCity

    It’s a circular aspect!!!! …. hilarious

  • kyri

guys, have you seen the Good Dinosaur?

    You should check it out..

It’s pretty much the same film as star wars,

dino = the chick in starwars

the Death of Solo -> the death of Dino pap

    Death star = mother nature..

they even share the same ending.. reunification with the family..

    Good stuff..

    Just saying.. equally awesome movies…

  • Beat_C

Olivia Williams would be such a great addition to Star Wars ????

  • Frank has seen it and talked about it on the Creed show, #542.

Just listened to #545 Great show guys…Just epic. Love your work.

Someone in the show said has there ever been a non-Jedi use a light sabre before.

You may recall in Empire strikes back that Han solo cuts a Tauntaun open to save Luke from the cold.

Keep up the great work. You guys should be rich with such great content. – Hire an advertising dude.
