A few months ago we saw the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Gamera reboot, and now this week Toho has released the first teaser for their new Godzilla film, Godzilla: Resurgence. This will be the first Japanese Godzilla movie since 2004’s Godzilla: Final Wars and it will apparently employ a hybrid of CG and practical effects. The teaser doesn’t offer any glimpses of Godzilla himself, but it does feature some Cloverfield-style found footage shots of people panicking in the streets. Could this be a taste of what the actual movie will look like? Godzilla: Resurgence is directed by Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) and Shinji Higuchi (Attack on Titan) and it hits theatres in Japan on July 29th, 2016.
