We’ve got a handful of smaller summer movies hitting DVD and Blu-ray this week plus tons of back catalogue stuff, including a few things that might make for ideal Halloween viewing. Adam Sandler’s Pixels is the highest profile new release although it flopped in theatres, while Joel Edgerton’s The Gift starring Jason Bateman and Antoine Fuqua’s Southpaw starring Jake Gyllenhaal were slightly more successful (relatively speaking). Gore hounds may also want to brave the final installment in Tom Six’s The Human Centipede trilogy. On Blu-ray, we’ve got yet another new edition of Sam Raimi’s Army of Darkness, the long-awaited Criterion release of David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive and the 40th Anniversary Edition of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, plus the Warner Brothers Special Effects Collection and two killer ant movies: Them! and Saul Bass’s Phase IV.
