The Hulk to Appear in Thor: Ragnarok

Over the past couple of years, comic book fans have expressed a desire to see solo movies for some of their favourite “second string” Avengers including Black Widow, Hawkeye and The Hulk (yes, another one). However, up until now Marvel has been reluctant to give them their own movies — not because there isn’t enough interest, but rather because they still need supporting characters for all their marquee heroes. Ever since The Avengers brought all of these big names together in one film, they have been forced to up the ante in the subsequent solo films. Which is why Black Widow had a major role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Falcon made an appearance in Ant-Man, and Iron Man will be in Captain America: Civil War (along with everyone else). Now it looks like the Hulk will also fight alongside Thor in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok. It may not be a new Hulk standalone film, but perhaps it is the next best thing?
Multiple sources are currently reporting that Mark Ruffalo is in final negotiations to star in Thor: Ragnarok. The news was first reported by JoBlo earlier this week, but has since been confirmed by Variety, THR and Deadline. Tom Hiddleston and Jaimie Alexander are also on board to return as Loki and Lady Sif respectively.
At the moment, it is unclear how Hulk will fit into the storyline and how extensive Mark Ruffalo’s role will be. It is rumoured that the movie will take place on a planet other than Asgard and Earth, which is fueling speculation that it will eventually lead to a Planet Hulk movie. Thor: Ragnarok will be directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows, Eagle vs. Shark) and hits theatres on Nov. 3rd, 2017. Does this news make you more or less excited about the movie?
