Although I continue to hold out hope for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming Cold War thriller Bridge of Spies, so far the marketing has not been doing much for me. A new trailer has arrived online this week and continues to sell it mostly as a standard courtroom drama and an uplifting true story about an American hero (played by Tom Hanks, of course). The true events on which the movie is based seem to present a perfect opportunity for suspense and dark humour; with a script co-written by The Coen Brothers surely there must be some of that hidden under the surface? I guess we’ll find out in about a month’s time. Bridge of Spies hits theatres on Oct. 16th; check out the new trailer after the jump and see what you think.
