Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book Trailer

After teasing some footage on Vine over the weekend, today Disney has unveiled the first official teaser trailer for their upcoming live-action version of The Jungle Book. Of course, live-action should probably be in quotes because this is largely a CG affair, taking its cue from movies like Life of Pi and Rise of the Planet of the Apes to create some pretty impressive photorealistic animals. Directed by Jon Favreau, this is just one of two live-action Jungle Book adaptations in the works with the other being directed by Andy Serkis for Warner Brothers. Disney’s The Jungle Book features the voices of Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito and Christopher Walken and hits theatres on April 15th, 2016. Check out the first trailer after the jump and see what you think.

  • I’m sold.

  • Niklas

    that was live action!?

  • Sean

From what I understand, the kid is the only live-action component of the movie.

  • Flo Lieb

Is it just me or do the proportions of Bagheera’s head compared to his body look weird? I’m not completely sold on real looking animals who talk yet either, but the CG looks alright.

  • Bob Phelan

Not sure how it’s gonna feel to have those animals talking but that was a great trailer.

  • Jonny Ashley

Wondering what Frank is going to think of this and also his opinion on the 1994 Live Action Jungle Book which had real animals that didn’t talk.

  • I wish we saw more of the characters talking. Trailer is cut well tho. http://filmcutting.com/new-trailer-for-ron-howards-in-the-heart-of-the-sea/
