Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster Trailer Starring Colin Farrell

After taking the world by storm with his last two films, Dogtooth and Alps, Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos is back with his English-language debut, The Lobster. Much like his previous films, it is another absurdist and vaguely sci-fi tale, this time taking place in a dystopian near-future where being single is a crime. Unattached adults are rounded up and taken to a place called The Hotel where they are forced to find a mate… and if they cannot find one within 45 days, they are turned into an animal of their choosing.
This is Lanthimos’ first film with a big name cast and it stars Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, John C. Reilly, Ben Whishaw and Lea Seydoux, among others. The movie will have its North American premiere at TIFF but a U.S. theatrical release is still TBA. The Lobster hits theatres in the U.K. and Ireland on Oct. 16th; check out the first trailer plus a clip from the film after the jump and let us know what you think.
