Greatest podcast of all time. Thank you, guys. Last week just wasn’t the same. Thanks again!

  • devolutionary

You just don’t realize that certain absence in your life until you have to go nearly 2 weeks without a new FilmJunk episode. Thanks again as always.

  • DrewNugent

Considering how much you guys ended up liking Straight Outta Compton, I really think you should review Love & Mercy sometime in the coming weeks. It’s really amazing.

  • devolutionary

I will echo Sean in that I encountered 2 separate ID defined errors when checking out items on the B&N website at purchase time. Errors like “Inventory item [ID #] cannot be found. However, this was resolved by manually removing and re-adding them to my checkout cart at the top again. Bizarre, and they have a very inefficient shipping process as well.

  • Übermensch

So your criticism of The Man from U.N.C.L.E is: “The music
is so on point, I couldn´t get past it” and: Guy Ritchie dares to use 60´s music in a film set in the 60´s which apparently is a rip off of Tarantino´s musical choice in films set in other decades? Makes sense!

  • Frank Booth

Thanks for clarifying Frank’s comment. It was hard to make out what he was saying with Tarantino’s dick in his mouth.

  • Sean

I think it hits DVD and Blu-ray in a couple of weeks so hopefully we’ll be able to get to it sometime soon.

  • Sam

I love that Matt Gamble liked this comment.

  • Lark

Matt Gamble is just in awe of Frank´s unmatchably encyclopedic and distinguished movie knowledge (naturally aquired during his time as THE expert cinema employee in all of Canada).

  • devolutionary

I’m still waiting on the much delayed theatre challenge as to who would be the better concession manager. Frank already bowed out on the ‘technician’ side after the curved screen deboccle.

  • Lori Cerny

    Re: Jaws/Seven
Both films have a head without a body.

  • Sean

Looks like someone already beat Jay to the punch with the video essay:

    https://vimeo.com/130493873

Actually nevermind… I just watched it.

  • Sam

    Apparently, this already exists

  • Sean

I knew it!. It was too good not to exist.

  • LordAwesome

Does Frank see the irony in him accusing filmmakers of “co-opting” “Tarantino’s style” or is he deliberately being dense for comedic effect?

  • devolutionary

Need to find a way to merge Connie Sewer with Eraser Fred (custom creation).

  • ECONOMYpolitica

Surprised you didn’t cover the screenwriter’s whining on Twitter. He was saying American Ultra’s failure meant “big idea original movies are over” or something. These kids look like they are 12 years old. I will never see this movie as long as I live. Sounds like a rip-off of CONSPIRACY THEORY. This actor should focus on The Social Network II about that slave driver Zuckerberg lobbying for more H-1b visas so he doesn’t have to pay fair wages to the people who work for his scummy company.

  • ECONOMYpolitica

For real. Am I the only one who has never seen Major League? I felt so alienated and offended. Frank has Major League privilege.

  • Kyle

Out of curiosity, what does Frank think about Mia Wallace’s “don’t be a square” in Pulp Fiction? It’s pretty much the same as Jennifer Jason Leigh’s
pantomimed noose in the Hateful Eight trailer.

  • ECONOMYpolitica

Were you guys talking about Connie Sewer before? Somebody was just talking about Connie Sewer.

  • Bob

What the hell, no mention of Skin Trade in the DVD/Bluray releases? I mean, look at that all-star cast: Dolph Lundgren, Tony Jaa, Michael Jai White, Ron Perlman, Peter Weller, and Shang Tsung himself, Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa. It’s, uh, not great, but it’s fun enough and has solid matchups like Lundgren vs. Jaa and Jaa vs. White.

Seriously, why isn’t Michael Jai White a big action star? He’s redeemed himself after Spawn.

  • Bandit Manatee

Wow… Jay always busting the ball’s of gamers. I like it.

  • devolutionary

Roughly 1:50 mark. Jay starts riffing on Frank’s mention of not being a connoisseur of Lynch.

  • The last two weeks were long and dark, but now we’re through. Thank you for doing this!

  • ECONOMYpolitica

I was watching old Apprentice episodes on youtube a couple days ago and someone commented on the candidates seeking out conniesewers like he thought that was how the word was spelled and he had never heard it. These guys are mindmelded with Trump.

  • Tim

Wikipedia, 2nd paragraph : “The 1970 film adaptation of Valerie a týden div? was shot in 1969 starring the then 13-year-old Jaroslava Schallerová as Valerie”

nytimes.com : “..the innocently sensuous Valerie (13-year-old Jaroslava Schallerova)..”

    thedigitalbits.com: ”
She is, indeed, a very young actress (13 at the time of production)”

Cut to Jay furiousy jerking off all over the place, obsessively making up victim-narratives, spanking his monkey, how he was viciously decived into thinking she was 19, now manically masturbating again.

  • JonJon

I think Frank might be confused about Guy Ritchie’s style because Matthew Vaughn played a major role in Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Basically if you want to know what Guy Ritchie’s style is, take Lock Stock and subtract The Kingsmen. I don’t particularly think hes great or anything but I also think its unfair to view him as a Tarantino clone. They both came from the same era of movies, and I don’t think Tarantino was the only person who influenced that period in cinema.

  • Gerry

On Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels the technicians storyboarded the film giving it it’s stylish visual look.

  • Kasper

I loved Jay’s masturbation joke. Two thumbs way up.

  • Essie

Jay said Tarantino writes women well.

  • Dstrbpx

Nobody understands women like Jay and Tarantino.

  • Dear Jay,

It’s nice to hear that you are finally admitting that both your purchase and star rating of Buried was done purely to spite me. It’s sweet to know that our date with Red affected you that much.

    Kisses.

    -Matt

PS – Red is still the best movie in the history of movies.

  • pcch7

I thought Man From U.N.C.L.E was alright, somewhat charming. Hugh Grant was the highlight for me though, I wish there was more of him

  • pcch7

    Battletoads is great

  • I love Jay’s thrashing of video essays.

  • Anybody pick up that Zatoichi box set when it was on sale the other day? It’d be perfect for Franky – beautiful packaging, Criterion, and almost every film is under 90 minutes.

  • Samb

Tarantino should just not be listened to. If people aren’t watching “The Kids Are All Right” 30 years from now, it’ll be because it wasn’t made for people to mindlessly shove into their gaping maws over and over again.

  • pcch7

Turbo Kid and Clouds of Sils Maria would be great for next week guys

  • Jared from Subway

When’s the vidya game premium happening? I wanna hear yall talk about some Mario Bros.
