Victor Frankenstein Trailer Starring James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe

With American Ultra coming to theatres this weekend, the first trailer for another Max Landis-scripted movie has just arrived online. Victor Frankenstein is described as a new twist on Mary Shelley’s classic tale, told from the perspective of Frankenstein’s assistant, Igor. Based on the trailer, it also looks somewhat action-oriented and seems to have a dark comedic tone although it still retains a period setting. James McAvoy plays the title character while Daniel Radcliffe plays Igor.

The movie is just one of several Frankenstein movies that have been developing around Hollywood as of late (I, Frankenstein is the only other one to have been released so far), but it is a Fox film and unrelated to the Universal Monsters franchise reboot. Victor Frankenstein is directed by Paul McGuigan (Sherlock, Lucky Number Slevin) and hits theatres on Nov. 25th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

  • William Hill

Looks like they went the Guy Ritchie route on this. I really wish that type of filmmaking would just die out.

I was thinking the exact samething! Who directed this Guy Ritchie??? But no, Fox just stole his MO which in my book is not a plus.

The style is an exact replica of Guy Ritchies’s Sherlock Holmes which I really hated…sigh why can’t they make period horror period horror instead of action packed modern kitsch??

  • Deven Science

    This does not look good.

They even used Andrew Scott (Moriarty in the superior UK TV series) in this film.

  • Jameson

That looks awful. Looks like the same world as Hugh Jackman’s Van Helsing.

Easy answer. TV residuals. Sherlock Holmes replays on tv over and over and over and over……

But it would still play on TV over and over again if they did it in a period horror theme. It’s not about Sherlock Holmes being a huge money making franchise cause Van Helsing was a bomb and they play that all the time. And lets not forget Hansel and Gretel: Witch hunters…like that was a huge a success.

Would the world stop casting Daniel Radcliffe. He’s terrible. Besides, Igor should go to an older guy.

Actually Hansel was a pretty darn good success as a multiple of costs to produce.
