Although the future of Natalie Portman’s Jane Got a Gun is currently uncertain due to Relativity’s financial woes, the good news is that Drafthouse Films will be releasing another gritty female-fronted western in theatres next month. The Keeping Room is directed by Daniel Barber (Harry Brown) and is also based on a Black List script, taking place towards the end of the Civil War. Brit Marling plays a woman who must team up with her sister Louise (Hailee Steinfeld) and their female slave (Muna Otaru) in order to defend their farmhouse against two rogue Union soldiers. The plot seems pretty straightforward, but it certainly looks like an intense experience. The Keeping Room hits select theatres on Sept. 25th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
