HBO’s Westworld Teaser Trailer

westworld

Although it won’t premiere until next year, HBO has just released the first teaser trailer for their upcoming Westworld series, giving us a hint of what’s to come. Created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy Nolan and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, the show is based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 film of the same name about a futuristic theme park where robots are used as actors to immerse guests in a simulated historic setting. The cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Eddie Rouse, Thandie Newton and Clifton Collins Jr., with Ed Harris apparently taking on the Yul Brynner role. Westworld premieres on HBO sometime in 2016; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

As a huge fan of both Science Fiction and Westerns; this looks awesome. I wonder if the Western setting will be a recurring one or just a short stint…

Oh yeah, considering it’s named “Westworld” I guess that isn’t really a question.

Certainly looks cinematic doesn’t it. Killer cast too, can’t wait to see Evan Rachel Wood. Don’t think I’ve seen her in anything since The Wrestler. I hope this resurgence with Westerns continue as well.
