Rebecca Ferguson Rumoured for Gambit Female Lead

Earlier this week Channing Tatum officially signed on to star in Gambit after a slight hiccup in the deal making process with 20th Century Fox. Now things appear to be moving full steam ahead as the studio is looking to lock down a female lead for the film as well. Not surprisingly, Rebecca Ferguson’s stellar performance in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation seems to have earned her a spot on the shortlist of actresses vying for the part. However, she is also up against another Mission: Impossible alumni, French actress Lea Seydoux who previously appeared in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. Hit the jump for the full rundown on the latest Gambit casting rumours.
According to Deadline, there are three actresses currently under consideration to star opposite Channing Tatum in the upcoming X-Men spin-off Gambit. Lea Seydoux (Blue Is The Warmest Color, Spectre) is said to be among the women testing for the part, along with this summer’s breakout star Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Hercules). The third name on the shortlist is Australian actress Abbey Lee, who appeared in Mad Max: Fury Road earlier this summer and also has an upcoming role in Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon.
The role that they are testing for will reportedly be Bella Donna Boudreaux, the daughter of the leader of the New Orleans Assassins’ Guild and former love interest of Remy LeBeau. Although they were married in the comics, they eventually had a falling out and LeBeau was forced to leave New Orleans. She is also a mutant with psychic powers as well as the ability to shoot plasma blasts from her hands. Who would you like to see play Bella Donna Boudreaux in Gambit?
