We’ve got four new movies in wide release this weekend including the final comic book movie of the summer, but unfortunately it ain’t looking so hot. Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four is getting pulverized by critics but that probably won’t stop it from topping the box office this weekend. Still, moviegoers might be better off checking out one of the other new movies like Joel Edgerton’s well-received thriller The Gift, the latest Aardman animated film Shaun the Sheep, or the Jonathan Demme / Diablo Cody musical drama Ricki and the Flash starring Meryl Streep. In select theatres we also have the acclaimed Sundance thriller Cop Car starring Kevin Bacon, Gillian Flynn adaptation Dark Places starring Charlize Theron, and the highly touted period drama The Diary of a Teenage Girl.
