Roland Emmerich’s Stonewall Trailer

Before Roland Emmerich returns with his next giant blockbuster film Independence Day: Resurgence next summer, he will release his most stripped down and intimate movie to date. Stonewall is a period drama about the Stonewall Riots of 1969, which took place in Greenwich Village in New York City and kickstarted the gay rights movement. While it remains to be seen if Roland Emmerich has a legitimate shot at awards season glory, the movie is premiering at TIFF before hitting theatres at the end of September. It stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Ron Perlman, Jeremy Irvine, Joey King and Caleb Landry Jones and it marks the lowest budget production he has directed since the start of his Hollywood career. Stonewall hits select theatres on Sept. 25th. Check out the first trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
