Seth Gordon to Direct Baywatch Movie

With Furious 7, San Andreas and now his HBO series Ballers, Dwayne Johnson is currently having a pretty huge year and he seems intent on capitalizing on it in a big way. The wrestler turned actor has been busy setting up a number of upcoming projects including Fast & Furious 8, the recently announced Big Trouble in Little China remake, and the Rampage video game adaptation among others. The Rampage movie just secured a director as of last week and now a different Dwayne Johnson movie has also found a new captain: his upcoming movie based on the ’90s TV series Baywatch. Hit the jump for the full scoop.

According to Variety, Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon has signed on to direct Baywatch for Paramount Pictures. Dwayne Johnson joined the project last October and, at the time, Sean Anders and John Morris (We’re the Millers) were attached to direct. Prior to that, Robert Ben Garant (Reno 911!) was supposed to be at the helm.

In case you haven’t guessed, the movie will be a comedy, although it is unclear if it will be a full-on parody of the original show. The Rock previously claimed that it would be “Edgy, raunchy and hopefully, funny as all hell.” Gordon has made a name for himself directing R-rated comedies like Horrible Bosses and Identity Thief after getting his start with the documentary The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters. Although it seemed like he was looking to broaden his horizons with an adaptation of the Uncharted video game, he dropped out of that project just last month. Do you have any interest in a Baywatch movie?

  • Stinker

The World can sigh a breath of relief; the Germans can again be tamed by the “Baywatch” weapon, which neutralizes once again all rationality from the Body of a German male.

The next phase would be a reanimation of David Hassel off who could start singing that he “starts looking for freedom”, again. And whole Germany is tame as a puppy that sees a juicy sausage. Oh what an evil plan from Hollywood.

Otherwise this movie sounds as interesting as the news that M. Bay is making another Robots vs. whatever with humans in the way.
