Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s The Revenant Trailer Starring Leonardo DiCaprio

It’s shaping up to be a great year for westerns with Slow West already proving to be a pleasant surprise and Jane Got a Gun, Bone Tomahawk, and The Hateful Eight scheduled to be released later in the year. Then there is Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s upcoming film The Revenant, which couldn’t be more different from his Oscar-winning film Birdman. Based on the true story of explorer Hugh Glass, this is a brutal tale of survival and revenge set in the early 1800s. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, and Will Poulter, the first trailer looks absolutely stunning. The Revenant hits select theatres on Dec. 25th; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.



  • This true story is fascinating, and it looks like the movie is going to deliver. As for Westerns, we also have Ti West’s “In a Valley of Violence” which has an unspecified 2015 release date.

    This trailer is fucking amazing! Birdman was my favorite movie from last year and this looks oh so very different, but so so sweet. A 6/5 contender?
