Michael Cera to Voice Robin in Lego Batman

Over the past couple of years, Michael Cera has seemingly shied away from the spotlight with only a small appearance in This Is the End to remind mainstream moviegoers that he still exists. In that time, he has stayed busy by appearing in a few low budget indie films, releasing an album of acoustic folk songs, and helping to launch the YouTube channel Jash, but there is also the matter of a little TV show that he is still involved in called Arrested Development. Recently, it looked like he might be up for a significant role in the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but now it seems that he has passed on that project in favour of reteaming with his Arrested Development co-star Will Arnett instead. Hit the jump for more details.
According to THR, Michael Cera has signed on to voice Robin in the animated film Lego Batman for Warner Brothers. He is the first cast member to join the film aside from Will Arnett, who will reprise his role as Batman from The Lego Movie. Chris McKay is directing from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Dark Shadows).
As it turns out, Cera will also be providing a voice for Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s upcoming R-rated animated comedy Sausage Party. It’s not hard to see why he would favour another voice acting gig to a big special effects blockbuster, especially since this movie offers the opportunity to work with a friend. However, it also should give him more time to continue developing his first project as a director, an adaptation of the 1985 Charles Portis novel Masters of Atlantis. Does the casting of Michael Cera as Robin make you more or less interested in Lego Batman?
