2015 Emmy Award Nominations

emmyawards

The Emmy Awards have been pretty predictable for a long time now, but this year there finally seems to be a bit of a shake-up afoot. Long-time comedy favourites like Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory are falling by the wayside while streaming networks like Netflix and Amazon continue to further infiltrate the list of nominees. In particular, Amazon’s Transparent and Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt managed to sneak into the nominees for Outstanding Comedy Series while Orange is the New Black is up for Outstanding Drama Series (but is it really a drama?).

In the acting categories, both Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn also earned nominations for the Netflix series Bloodline, while perhaps the biggest surprise was Tatiana Maslany getting a nod for Orphan Black. Overall though, HBO’s Game of Thrones leads the pack with 24 nominations while AMC’s Mad Men is also expected to come away with plenty of hardware for its final season. What do you think of this year’s Emmy nominations? Check out the full list after the jump.

I would argue that “Bloodline” is more Ben Mendelsohn’s show than Kyle Chandler’s. Both were terrific in it though.
