Fatal Attraction Gets Rebooted As Event Series

The Oscar-nominated thriller Fatal Attraction is set to be rebooted as an event series by Paramount Television. The show has so far received a script order by Fox, which will most likely pick up the show for a full season since the original 1987 movie was developed by then-Paramount executive now-Fox president of entertainment, David Madden. While planned as a limited set of one-hour episodes, Paramount is leaving the door open for additional seasons, should the show be popular.

The original Fatal Attraction revolved around a one-night affair between a career woman (Glenn Close) and a family man (Michael Douglas) which ends up haunting the man after he rejects the woman, who then starts stalking him and his family. The new series, which will be a reimagination of the original movie’s plot, is being penned and executive produced by Mad Men alums Maria and Andre Jacquemetton.

If greenlit, Fatal Attraction will be the third property in Fox’s upcoming line-up of film-to-TV reboots which also includes Minority Report and Frankenstein. In similar fashion, Fox also has the much talked about continuation of The X-Files as an event series on the horizon. In terms of Paramount this is the third movie in their library to recently get turned into a TV show, with Shooter in the process of being set up at USA Network and Shutter Island at HBO.

The current TV landscape is overflowing with potential film-to-TV reboots, with movies such as Big, Hitch, and Monster-in-Law also having been talked about for Fox in recent months, along with Uncle Buck being picked up by ABC, Rush Hour getting rebooted on CBS, and Frank-favorite comedy Problem Child getting a pilot order at NBC… and that’s just a few of the adaptations in the pipeline.
