Creed Trailer Starring Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone

Here’s the first trailer for the upcoming Rocky spin-off Creed, which focuses on the estranged son of Rocky Balboa’s former nemesis Apollo Creed. Although most people are going to assume that this is just Sylvester Stallone trying to milk more money out of the Rocky franchise, the truth is this project wasn’t even his idea. Director Ryan Coogler pitched it to Warner Brothers as a vehicle for his Fruitvale Station star Michael B. Jordan and Stallone ended up digging the idea. I’m not sure how long-time Rocky fans feel about this film, but it looks like it could be pretty great (and of course, a natural starting point for a whole new series of films). For now, let’s just hope the first one lives up to its potential. Creed hits theatres on Nov. 25th; check out the first trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

    I think this looks promising! I couldn’t help but become tremendously excited when Stallone was introduced in the trailer. There were a couple references that might have been a little too on the nose such as the gangsters riding behind his jogging like the little kids did for Rocky. Whatever though, I hope this is a worthy successor for the Rocky franchise, and acts as a good send off for ol’ Roc’.

    Looks good. Does Rocky have a black eye in a couple of shots? Maybe he kicks the shit out of Creed jr for old times sake.
