Great review, Sean. Saw it yesterday and loved it. Unfortunately saw it in a “Dolby 3-D” presentation which added insult to injury by being slightly out of focus. 3-D has a place but the dimming of the colors is so obvious that until they fix that I prefer 2D for Pixar films. That aside, though, I was extremely impressed by the cleverness of the concept (beyond the “control room”) and the universe created to show what are sometimes not fully understandable emotions when we’re experiencing them.

I think this movie hints at big ideas but doesn’t handle them. i think it portends to be more for parents, but its still pretty childish. great concept wasted on kids.

In regards to last week’s podcast, I’m with Frank on trailers. This movie would’ve been better (and funnier) if I hadn’t seen the trailer ten times.

Great review Sean, certainly one of your best!

I gotta admit, I was one that lost faith in Pixar and haven’t seen a Pixar movie in years. The last being TS3 in 2010. And though I enjoyed it I did feel that perhaps Pixar was entering a declining period. Hopefully this movie will rejuvenate a once proud studio and once big Pixar fan…that being me.
