Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario Trailer Starring Emily Blunt

sicario

After the solid one-two punch of Prisoners and Enemy, I think it’s safe to say that Denis Villeneuve has become a director whose work I am willing to check out virtually sight unseen. Earlier this year it was announced that he would be taking on the Blade Runner sequel, but before that he has a new film hitting theatres this fall called Sicario (which means hitman in Mexico).

The movie stars Emily Blunt as an FBI agent who is recruited to join a U.S. task force fighting the war on drugs in Mexico. Unfortunately, she is not quite prepared for just how brutal that world can be. With beautiful cinematography by Roger Deakins and a supporting cast that includes Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin and Jon Bernthal, this looks like a tightly wound, must-see thriller. Sicario hits select theatres on Sept. 18th; check out the first official trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

I have not seen enemy but I really liked Prisoners. This looks like a good movie. Love Del Toro, Blunt and Brolin…great cast! Plus I’m curious to see what Jeffrey Donovan can do.

Doesn’t look groundbreaking or anything but I have a feeling the movie will be pretty good. I didn’t love the trailer for Prisoners either and ended up really liking that film. Love Emily Blunt so there’s that too.

    Hey, I like tacos.

  • Looks intense, and I do really like both Blunt and del Toro!

If you get a chance, you should really check out Polytechnique and Incendies! I imagine they’d be flagged as Foreign Films in the US though. Those are some very dark thematic films!

Looks great! Denis Villeneuve has been on a roll and I absolutely can’t to see what he does with the Blade Runner sequel.

Looks like a continuation of Del Toro’s character in Traffic. I like it!!
