Monday Morning Box Office Report: Spy Eliminates Entourage

It was a very tight race at the box office over the weekend, but at the last minute it was Paul Feig’s Spy that pulled ahead for the win with an estimated $30 million. Insidious: Chapter 3 got out to a surprising early lead on Friday but was eventually forced to settle for third as San Andreas managed to hold on to second place with $26.4 million. Meanwhile Entourage opened in a distant fourth place with just $10 million, although that’s not a totally fair comparison since it opened on Wednesday and brought in $17.8 million over five days. That’s still nowhere near what Sex and the City made back in 2008… go figure. Mad Max: Fury Road rounded out the top 5 and has now crossed $300 million worldwide.
