American Ultra Trailer Starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart

americanultra

Here’s an upcoming movie that finds Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart reteaming on screen for the first time since 2009, but don’t mistake this for an Adventureland sequel. American Ultra actually sort of looks like Bourne meets Pineapple Express, an action-comedy that revolves around a stoner (Eisenberg) who discovers that he is actually a sleeper agent trained by the government to be an assassin. Directed by Nima Nourizadeh (Project X) and written by Max Landis (Chronicle), this could be precisely the kind of late summer treat that is required viewing at your local drive-in. American Ultra hits theatres on Aug. 21st; check out the red band trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Looks cool, I’ll watch it, but I do feel like they showed too damn much of it in the preview, as usual.

Didn’t really think anything in the trailer was all that funny but I’ve been optimistic about this one for a little while now, we could do with a good stoner comedy. I really like Kristen Stewart and I hope she has more of a central role than this indicates and not just becoming the reason for Eisenberg to kick ass. As for Eisenberg, he’s hit or miss for me. Probably gonna hold out for word of mouth on this one though.

  • I don’t know about Jesse Eisenberg in that role, he just looks like a guy playing dress up as a stoner. I like Kristen Stewart, though.

I can’t wait for Max Landis’ career to crash and burn.

Death by spoon AND frying pan? Yep, I’m definitely on board for this.

Why does this trailer seem familiar like I’ve seen these ideas rehashed before. And why can’t K stew display more than one expression?

  • Joachim Lothe-Rikenberg

That K Stew joke is so old. She’s kinda great in her movies.

  • BatemanBegins

    What a well-adjusted sentiment!

  • John Landis

It would be fair to say he comes across as a douchebag (but not necessarily an uninteresting one) in a number of interviews.

  • 1138sw

Actually that’s not a joke just an observation. And we can agree to disagree on her acting ability which I find just limited.

  • pcch7

Yep, that’s usually a good litmus test as to whether people have seen any of her stuff other than Twilight or Snow White. She’s really good actually.
