New to Theatres This Weekend: Tomorrowland, Poltergeist, The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence)

It should be an interesting little skirmish at the box office this weekend as Brad Bird’s Tomorrowland and Gil Kenan’s Poltergeist remake take on the red hot Pitch Perfect 2 and Mad Max: Fury Road (not to mention The Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is still doing some solid business). Tomorrowland has the Disney brand behind it and should probably bring out plenty of families although the reviews have been extremely mixed. Poltergeist isn’t doing any better critically but you can’t underestimate a horror movie these days — especially one that is PG-13. In select theatres, we also have the conclusion to Tom Six’s demented horror trilogy The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence) (which is also out on VOD), Aloft starring Jennifer Connelly, and When Marnie Was There, the most recent and possibly final film to be produced by Studio Ghibli. What will you be watching this weekend?

Tomorrowland looks awesome, but I have a feeling it’ll most likely bomb big time.
