David Lynch is Back on Board for Showtime’s Twin Peaks Revival

The standoff is over! After a month and a half of negotiation that probably seemed like an eternity to fans, David Lynch has patched things up with Showtime and will once again be involved in the new season of Twin Peaks. Last month he announced that he would be walking away from the series due to a budgetary dispute with Showtime. Showtime, however, indicated that they still wanted to work things out and now it looks like they were able to win him over. Lynch is back on board and they are reportedly doing more episodes than originally planned. Showtime president David Nevins made the following statement yesterday to confirm the good news:
“This damn fine cup of coffee from Mark and David tastes more delicious than ever. Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected. David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Preproduction starts now!!”
Lynch also made a statement of his own on Twitter:
Dear Twitter Friends, the rumors are not what they seem ….. It is !!!
Happening again. #TwinPeaks returns on @SHO_Network

The original plan was for the new season to run nine episodes, so it sounds like there will at least be a tenth in the works now. I am assuming this was a way for Showtime to justify the extra money that Lynch was asking for… clearly a win/win scenario if ever there was one. Now everyone can breathe a sigh of relief and celebrate the fact that we won’t have to endure a Twin Peaks comeback without Lynch’s involvement. Are you once again excited to experience a brand new season of Twin Peaks?
