Vacation Reboot Red Band Trailer

When it was first announced that they were rebooting National Lampoon’s Vacation, we all had our doubts about rehashing another comedy classic. But after they cast Ed Helms as the grown up Rusty Griswold and Christina Applegate as his wife, it seemed like maybe (just maybe) there might be some potential there. Now the first trailer has arrived online and that potential is slowly slipping away again. Rusty comes across as unbelievably dumb, as opposed to Chevy Chase in the original who always has good intentions but somehow comes up short. The update is written and directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein who previously wrote Horrible Bosses and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone… so, yeah. Vacation hits theatres on July 29th; check out the red band trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

Feels like they saw 22 Jump Street and went, “Yup, do that to Vacation”

This looks awful. The sewage joke was especially cringe worthy.

OK I laughed I admit it. But a must see? probably not. A Netflix night? Yeah probably.

  • Hopefully they pay ‘homage’ to the original with a Christina Applegate shower scene. Earn the R rating! Unfortunately, it looks like a lazy reboot, that pan out to the raw sewage sign was just sad.

I chuckled a couple of times. But generally I don’t think it’ll do well. Ed Helms just is not box office material in my opinion.
