After Furious 7 got the jump on summer movie season last month, the blockbuster floodgates officially open this weekend with the North American release of The Avengers: Age of Ultron. There’s a pretty good chance that this will surpass the previous Avengers movie and join Furious 7 as one of the biggest movies of all time. There are no other movies in wide release to compete with Marvel, but there are a few alternatives in limited release including Thomas Vinterberg’s Far from the Madding Crowd starring Carey Mulligan, the Oscar-nominated Estonian film Tangerines and the late Albert Maysles second last documentary Iris. Also in select theatres, we have the British crime drama Hyena and Welcome to Me starring Kristen Wiig. What will you be watching this weekend?
