Although Woody Allen’s last film Magic in the Moonlight didn’t go over so well, he has maintained a pretty decent track record as of late with acclaimed films like Blue Jasmine and Midnight in Paris still fresh in our memory. It’s unclear if his next movie will end up being joining that illustrious group of recent hits, but the fact that it stars Joaquin Phoenix certainly seems promising. Phoenix plays a philosophy professor suffering from an existential crisis, but after crossing paths with a young student (played by Emma Stone) and a fellow teacher (Parker Posey), something sparks a change in him. Irrational Man debuts at Cannes next month before hitting select theatres on July 17th; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
