Full House Spin-Off Coming to Netflix in 2016

With all the unexpected network TV revivals we’ve been seeing as of late, it’s not a huge surprise that Netflix has decided to jump on the nostalgia bandwagon as well. Earlier this month it was rumoured that they were close to ordering a follow-up to the popular ’80s sitcom Full House. Now this week they have confirmed that it is a done deal and 13 episodes of the new show will be coming to all regions in 2016. Entitled Fuller House, it will revolve around D.J. Tanner, her sister Stephanie and lifelong best friend Kimmy Gibler living together with their kids in San Francisco. Executive producers Robert L. Boyett, Thomas L. Miller and Jeff Franklin had this to say about the announcement:

“The continued support of Full House fans of all ages for the last 28 years has been astounding. It is an honor and a thrill to catch up with these beloved characters and explore their lives today. The love you saw on the show was real. The cast has remained a loving family off screen all these years. We are as excited as our fans to finally bring Full House back to life.”

The news was originally reported by TV Line but confirmed last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! by John Stamos. Stamos is expected to make guest appearances as Uncle Jesse while other original cast members Bob Saget, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Dave Coulier and Lori Loughlin are supposedly in talks to do the same. What do you think, does this actually have potential or is this the worst idea for a Netflix Original Series to date?

  • Nick

Worst idea ever. I happened to watch some of the original show on Youtube the other night and it was brutal. So cheesy and phony.

  • Maureen W.

Isn’t Candace Cameron as bad as her brother? So will this be DJ Tanner silently judging the residents of San Francisco and their immoral ways?

  • Flo Lieb

I liked Better Call Saul. i liked Daredevil. I’ll give this one a shot too #netflix

  • Tim

Is this going to be filmed in front of a live studio audience or single camera? It’s be interesting if they went the ladder route, i’d be down for that.

  • Chris

In the video Stamos says ‘they turn the house over to D.J and her kids’. I assume they will be using the same set then? This is going to be weird.

  • Colin

Using cameras on ladders is kind of dangerous
