Fantastic Four Trailer #2

fantasticfourtrailer2

Not to be left out of the recent wave of big trailer releases, Fox has just unveiled the full theatrical trailer for their upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Although it’s still largely focused on the origin story (yawn), we finally get to see some quick clips of Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, Human Torch and the Thing in action showing off their powers. We also get a couple of glimpses of Toby Kebbell as Victor Domashev aka Doctor Doom and perhaps the most interesting surprise, Reg E. Cathey (House of Cards) as Sue and Johnny Storm’s father, scientist Franklin Storm. Fantastic Four is directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle) and hits theatres on July 8th; check out the new trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

    I’m in.

  • LordAwesome

    Yawn.

I’m not getting it. This looks like the Zack Snyder version of Fantastic Four. Maybe I’m just being negative.

  • Jr

Ok, I’m definitely being negative, I just didn’t go in with an agenda.

  • That photoshop job on Miles Teller is truly something to behold.

A sight for thine eyes. They’ve done a man’s job on Rooney Mara too

What on eath have they done with Doom’s mask by the way? Only a brief glimps of it but that did not look cool.

ummm I am not impressed and I know the new FF is younger in the comics but can’t they do one based on the original FF? ya know an older Reed with older Susan young brother and older Thing? These guys are in their their mid to late twenties and early thirties but the movie makes them look like college kids for some reason…Is their some reason why Fox can’t seem to get the FF right???

This trailer doesn’t do anything for me. ….but I could be wrong, considering how much I enjoyed the film Chronicle. I just won’t be seeing it in theaters.

Probably the same reason they shoe-horned a black guy into the FF team – demographics. A younger audience wants to see people their age represented more than they want to see 35 year old adults. Although it could be argued that a lot of 35 year olds go to these sorts of movies, and since it’s an origin story they are supposed to be “younger” whatever that means.

But yea, social relevance and demographics generally trumps faithfulness to the source material. Changing out gender, race, and age is seen as the financially and ethically right thing to do.

Not really impressed but I heard they took influence from Cronenberg’s work and I can see bits and pieces of that in the trailer. That’s the only part I’m excited about.
