Last month we saw the first trailer for the Sundance hit Dope, which is coming to theatres this summer. Now this week we’ve got the trailer for another heavily hyped film from the festival called Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, a teen dramedy that tugs at the heartstrings and reportedly earned a standing ovation at its premiere. The movie is based on the novel by Jesse Andrews (who also wrote the screenplay) and directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon (The Town That Dreaded Sundown, American Horror Story) and it revolves around a teenage filmmaker who is essentially forced to befriend a girl who has been diagnosed with leukemia. It also looks to have some Be Kind Rewind-style interludes featuring movies that have been more or less “Sweded” by the main character. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl hits theatres on June 12th; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
