Although Jason Bateman is still known first and foremost for comedy, he’s been making an effort to break out of that box over the past couple of years. Recently he starred in a thriller called Disconnect, and now this year he is headlining another thriller called The Gift, which also happens to be Joel Edgerton’s directorial debut. Having written a couple of films in this vein already (The Square, Felony), Edgerton is no stranger to tension and suspense, and with himself and Rebecca Hall also co-starring and Jason Blum on board as producer, this look like it has potential. The Gift hits theatres on July 31st; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
