Masterminds Trailer Starring Zach Galifianakis and Kristen Wiig

It’s hard to believe it has been six years since we’ve seen a new movie from Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess, which may or may not have something to do with how poorly his last film Gentleman Broncos was received (somewhat unfairly, I might add). The good news is that this year we are actually getting two new films from Hess. The first, Don Verdean starring Sam Rockwell, premiered at Sundance where it was acquired by Lionsgate. The second, Masterminds, will hit theatres this summer and we’ve got the first trailer right here.
The movie is based on a true story of the 1997 Loomis Fargo Robbery in North Carolina, which found an unlikely team of amateur crooks pulling off one of the biggest heists in U.S. history, only to slowly self-destruct afterward. Jim Carrey was once attached to star but was eventually replaced by Zack Galifianakis with a supporting cast that includes Kristen Wiig, Jason Sudeikis, Owen Wilson and Ken Marino. It’s also worth noting that Jody Hill and Danny McBride co-wrote the screenplay and served as executive producers on the project. Masterminds hits theatres on Aug. 7th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
