AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead Teaser Trailer

fearwalkingdead

As you may already know, The Walking Dead has been such a big hit for AMC over the past few years that they have been developing a spin-off series that will follow a different group of survivors wandering through the same zombie apocalypse. They’ve also confirmed that the new show will reveal how the zombie outbreak first started, although it will eventually catch up to the current series chronologically. The spin-off is officially titled Fear the Walking Dead and it will star Kim Dickens (Gone Girl), Cliff Curtis (Sunshine), Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm). Does this sound like it will be worth checking out or is it just more of the same? Fear the Walking Dead premieres sometime this summer, check out the first teaser trailer after the jump and see what you think.

  • Wasn’t much of a teaser.

  • Lori Cerny

I’m crossing my fingers that it isn’t a thinly-disguised soap opera.

What an awful title. It makes the Franchise: City convention of naming spin-offs suddenly seem that much greater.

I think seeing the early stages of the outbreak is interesting. Seeing how the authorities respond and the slow break down of society and mass panic that results is a great part of Romero’s films. However I feel like that is 1 or 2 seasons worth of content and then we will have a show that is pretty much a clone of the main show.

With this and Better Call Saul AMC seems to be playing it really safe. I would like to see them adapt a different comic book or novel series into a show, rather than these creatively bankrupt spin offs. The next Game of Thrones or Walking Dead is out there waiting to be adapted into a series if the execs were willing to take a gamble. Personally, I think there is a huge lack of a really good Sci-fi space show to fill the position of battlestar galactica or star trek.

Kim Dickens is highly underrated, she’ll be a nice addition to this series. I for one am looking forward to this.

There’s a rumor that CBS is finally developing Singer’s Star Trek: Federation tv series.
