Weekly Poll Results: Best Sean Penn Movie

pollresultsseanpenn

Well if last week’s poll proved anything, it is that Sean Penn has had a pretty stellar acting career. Aside from the 22 movies provided as options, there were still several other write-in votes passionately being praised in the comments. In the end, it was Clint Eastwood’s Mystic River (the movie that earned Penn his first Oscar) that topped the poll with 18% of the votes. Carlito’s Way, The Thin Red Line, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High were all just separated by one vote for second, third and fourth place respectively, while Milk rounded out the top 5. Most of the other films received at least a couple of votes each with the exception of All the King’s Men, Taps and Before Night Falls, the trio of films that brought up the rear. Best Sean Penn movie in his prime playing himself….State of Grace. Great over-the-top performance by Gary Oldman. Beautiful Robin Wright, right after Princess Bride. Amazing score by Ennio Morricone. I watched this film constantly in high school and college. Surprised it’s become a forgotten crime film.
