    Works for me.

  • Deven Science

    That Yolandi… she’s a peach.

  • ah

It’s episode 486 – just relistened to it. The Tom Hanks convo is at the 2h 24m mark. Jay called it one of Frank’s bourbon legends – that needs to go in the glossary.

  • ah

Great show. Always look forward to a Reed episode and he was on fire producing one greatest hit moment after another.

  • devolutionary

Totally forgot about the Columbia House rant too; god it’s so true how they fool you into thinking you got a great deal as a kid when really they were rippin’ ya off!

  • Dwight G

Ninja is about as real a person as Ali G. Its just a character, a persona. Die Antwoord are a spoof/mock band, although admitedly they take it to more extreme levels than most pranksters. All of their music is a send-up of other artists and even specific songs. Ninja and Yolandi are actually a married couple, before they became Die Antwoord they did numerous comedy projects, although none of them were as popular as Die Antwoord which I guess is why they have stuck with the idea for so long, seeing as their albums have sold millions. The project they did before it was pretending to be some kind of weird Christian self-help, preacher rappers.

rubber soul also, of course, inspired brian wilson to make pet sounds! what a record. :)

  • Deven Science

Yeah, I’m pretty familiar with their past, Max Normal and whatnot. I think though that with every album, Ninja is buying into his act more and more, so that it’s not parody or mock anymore, as it once was. The lyrics of each album seem to progress from silly parody to taking itself seriously, instead.

Don’t get me wrong, I can separate the artist from the art, and enjoy the music either way. I just don’t think I’d ever care to actually meet them. Well, him. Yo-landi I would very much like to meet.

The lost Cantankerous episode from the Film Junk USB is yours to download now. http://goo.gl/p0wd3F

*If the Film Junk crew doesn’t want this up just let me know.

  • Reed Farrington

For the record, Nimoy pronounce’s his name as “Nee-moy” in an interview for the Archive of American Television and an episode of Futurama. And I love back tracking.

  • Nah, it should be Orca.

  • Colin

Appears to be dead, so I assume they took issue?

  • Sean

Pretty sure none of us said anything so unless Reed lawyered up it’s probably just a bandwidth thing.

  • Sean

If there are any issues, let us know Lori. We did have one or two faulty drives that were bent a little bit. But obviously if we were able to copy the files they worked for us.

  • Sean

I think they will all be shipped as of this weekend. We haven’t been sending out shipping notices but Bandcamp has an option for that so we’ll have to get our shit together for next time.

  • Kasper

Sorry for the late response, Lori!

I just popped in this bad boy and it fit like a glove. No problems at all.

  • Eric Mason

A few DVD menus I remember are Office space (it was a computer virus type) Wayne’s world ( it was a TV guide type ) and the An evening with Kevin Smith did ( he just sat there reading a newspaper forever )

  • kent88

Someone really should make an unboxing video for this thing.

    Model it after this masterpiece:

  • I also recall an episode where Reed pronounced it with the inflection on the second syllable. The evidence is out there. We just have to find which episode it is on and expose Reed’s revisionist history.

  • I do remember you pronouncing it the other way. There is audio evidence of you doing so. It will forever live long and prosper on the Film Junk usb drive.

  • Colin

Aha, well thanks for that update… still don’t have mine yet, so the posts about people having theirs had me worried. Glad to know that it’s possible mine’s still on the way, just sent out later than others.
