A little over a month ago it was announced that Melissa Benoist (Whiplash) had landed the lead role in the upcoming CBS series Supergirl. Now the pilot is heading into production and the first official photos of Benoist in character have been released online. The costume was designed by Oscar winner Colleen Atwood, who also did the costumes for Arrow and The Flash, although it does seem to have been influenced by the Man of Steel costume design as well. The supporting cast for Supergirl includes Calista Flockhart, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh and David Harewood with Helen Slater and Dean Cain also set for cameos as well.
