Tarsem’s Self/less Trailer Starring Ryan Reynolds

selfless

After becoming known for crafting visually rich fantasy films like The Cell, The Fall and Immortals, for the first time Tarsem Singh is switching genres to try his hand at science-fiction. Written by David and Alex Pastor (Carriers), Self/less takes place in the near future where science can transfer the consciousness of someone with health issues into a brand new body. Ben Kingsley plays a wealthy man dying of cancer, who takes over the body of Ryan Reynolds… not too shabby. Everything seems amazing for a while, but then some unforeseen side effects bubble to the surface. Self/less hits theatres on July 31st; check out the first trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

Didn’t the trailer just giveaway the twist ending? I guess I don’t need to see it now.

boy I was really starting to enjoy this trailer think Kingsley was the lead…then RR showed up and it became his vehicle…oh well it was interesting for awhile.

From the trailer, Matt Goode looks like the one saving grace. However, the unoriginal premise (this sci-fi concept has been done many times before — John Frankenheimer’s Seconds instantly comes to mind), the irritatingly over used pulsating/urban score, and RR is turning me off.

Took the words right out of my mouth… I immediately thought about Seconds.
