Can’t wait to catch What We Do In The Shadows at some point. Caught Sean’s discussion about it on the latest Row Three Cinecast with Matt Gamble. Luckily since we have a co-op theatre, it’s fair game to make feature requests for lesser known films.

  • The answer to the “exclusivity” conundrum with the Film Junk USBs is a simple one. @dirrrtyfrank just has to hand number them, limited edition Mondo steelbook style.

  • SLOTH

i loved Kingsman! disapionted that you guys weren’t to hot on it. i mean Frankie couldn’t even notice the genius Trading Places pandering.

“Looking good Valentine!, felling good Galahad!”

  • LordAwesome

So what made Frank such a rampant sexist?

Was he dumped on prom night?

Did a girl laugh at his penis?

    Is it a bald thing?

  • Lori Cerny

“hand number them”… mmm, exclusivity a la Herzog. Me like.

  • Lori Cerny

“It’s goofy and it’s too long,” that’s what she said.

  • kent88

    I have an idea…

In honor of Frank, let’s start a whole website dedicated to clickbait lists all related to Film Junk. I think that would finally push him over the edge.

Similar to Kickstarter or PledgeMusic options, if you opt for more pay, you should get a bonus. Maybe something like a voice recording of Paul F. Tompkins doing a Frank Knezic impersonation, thanking you in advance for your contribution.

  • Anthony Hebert

It’s cool that Jay enjoyed Porco Rosso but I am dreading him watching Pom Poko. That shit is BORING and this is coming from an anime fan. Best of luck to him.

  • ThisGuy01

So with SNL just having celebrated it’s 40 Anniversary when can we expect the “Saturday Night Live Movie Premium Podcast”?
I’m thinking Blues Brothers, Wayne’s World 1 & 2, Coneheads, MacGruber & then getting into the “pleasures” of It’s Pat, Superstar, A Night At the Roxbury & Ladies Man.

  • Maik

Jay joked many times that Frank “hates women”, but that statement is probably not very far from the truth.

  • pcch7

Liked Kingsman more than you guys but Sean has it right, Kick-Ass is way better.

  • pcch7

Loved it when Sean was getting choked up over the anime =D

  • pcch7

Have you seen Attack on Titan? Don’t watch anime but I’m thinking about giving that a chance

  • Chris

I’m so down for ‘Drive Home Junk’, please make this a thing.

  • devolutionary

I’ve actually watched the first 9 episodes on a recommendation from a friend (whom I watched this with initially) . If you can get over the funny imagery of gigantic naked titan “human-like” beasts rampaging all over Japan then you might get a kick out of it. The action is quite frenetic and the imagery is pretty interesting but the sameness of the plot did start to become tiring after episode 4-5. I haven’t returned to it in a few months, mind you but I do recall that the series took itself far too seriously.

I’m now more into Anime’s which are somewhat laid back but contain a more atmospheric paranormal theme like Ghost Hound or Mushishi. Surround sound is almost required to fully enjoy these.

  • pcch7

I saw a trailer or clip or something of one fight and I thought it looked alright so I don’t think I’d have a problem with the titans. Probably gonna have a look at it then

  • pcch7

Jay’s good at drawing and stuff, maybe he could carve a number in each with a knife or something. I might see about getting mine embossed with FJ in gold or something

  • Guest
  • MisterQuigley

Frank’s MRA playbook doesn’t bug me, nor his climate change denier stance. But the fact that the KOC hadn’t heard of The Ruttles? Derp…

  • Anthony Hebert

To be honest, it would be better to say I’m a former anime fan, as I haven’t seen much in the last couple years, including that. I do know that the main character has no depth and it more ludicrous with character deaths than GoT, so I wasn’t too interested.

Maybe give it shot. It might be good. *shrugs*

  • Tommy

Video with for the Oscars stream?

  • Tommy

Jay, you gotta go original language for the next anime. You think these Hollywood types are really nailing it?

  • ReelJunkie

I don’t care who gets cast as Spidey. I just want this to finally happen for real. Larry David as Vulture:

  • Colin

In trying to come up with a name for this show, my mind went…

Drive Junk > After Junk > Car Junk > Road Junk > Road Head

Whatever the name, it needs to happen.

  • Colin

I know Jay specifically doesn’t want ~*~ANIME~*~ suggestions, but i think we can all agree that he could appreciate Cowboy Bebop… episodes like Asteroid Blues, Toys in the Attic, Speak Like a Child, and Pierrot le Fou would probably get his dick hard.

  • ProjectGenesis

Premium idea: The 80s/90s Work of Woody Allen guest starring Reed Farrington.

  • pcch7

I want Sergio Leone or Quentin Tarantino meself. I’m very much looking forward to the Twilight premium though.

  • I think it says a lot about a person’s movie viewing taste and opinions when they’re out of the theater before the second line of closing credits goes by. Always always always sit and let it percolate for at least a minute or two (unless you have to pee so bad you can taste it). I automatically hate the people that literally jump out of their seat and bolt for the door the second the screen goes black.

Also, sitting in the back row? Really Frank?

    Cinema-going fail.

  • Craig

It’s preferable to the male self loathing you get on most other film related podcasts.

  • DrewNugent

Since next week will be rough week for reviews, I just thought I would suggest the Ryan Reynolds film “The Voices.” I think that would make for a much more interesting discussion than Paddington, and it’s very easily accesible

  • j

or that david o russel movie

  • mk

Why does the percolating have to happen in your seat, during the credits? Does percolation automatically cease when you stand up? Are the parking lot/the ride home/the next morning strict no-percolation zones?

  • Sean

I think it depends on the movie. As much as I wanted to let that final ass shot simmer, I felt I could still contemplate the shape and size as I walked out to my car.

My theatre is like a 3 minute drive away so I’m all about timing it so that I sit down just as trailers end and then beat the rush out of the theatre afterward. It’s a beautiful thing. Not having to wait around is one of the benefits of seeing movies alone.

  • Jay Cheel

The guy who watches movies on his phone is handing out cinema-going fails??? Pfffffft.

  • kent88

I’m glad more people are concerned by Jay’s (in particular) reluctance to watch end credits. Truly problematic behavior.

I wish he would rectify that. It would save us from a lot of embarrasing moments, like in the 12 YEARS A SLAVE review where Jay goes on about how much the score sounded like Hans Zimmer for 15 minutes, then stops and asks “who did the score?” to which Frank replies… Hans Zimmer. If Jay bothered to read credits this unfortunate moment never would have occurred.

That might be another reason one should watch the closing credits btw. The music. It kills me that whenever Jay watches TOP GUN and the credits starts with Cheap Trick’s ‘Mighty Wings’ (potentially the best song on the soundtrack) Jay quickly pushes the stop button and goes to the bathroom. Indefensible.

  • Bas

I would like a Paddington review if Kieran joins and gives his opinion ????

  • pcch7

Paddington is actually pretty good though.

  • pcch7
  • pcch7

Just finished the first season. I like it. A lot.

  • Anthony Hebert

That is great to hear! I might have to check it out as well.
