Neighbors 2 Coming in 2016

Despite having starred in several big hits throughout his career, it seems a bit surprising that up until now Seth Rogen has never appeared in a sequel (Kung Fu Panda 2 notwithstanding). Admirably, he has been mostly resistant to the idea, but over the past few years we kept hearing rumours about Pineapple Express 2. Recently leaked e-mails from the Sony hack seemed to reveal that the project died due to budgetary reasons, however, this week Universal Pictures has decided to step up and greenlight a sequel to another Seth Rogen vehicle: the R-rated comedy Neighbors. The family vs. frat feud is set to continue next summer.
According to THR, Universal Pictures has set a release date of May 13th, 2016 for Neighbors 2. Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Rose Byrne will all return along with director Nicholas Stoller and screenwriters Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O’Brien. The plot this time around will revolve around a sorority house moving in next door as Rogen and Byrne recruit their frat enemies to do battle with them.
The original Neighbors grossed $268 million worldwide on an $18 million budget and it seems safe to assume that the sequel will make even more. The only possible complication is that the release date they have chosen is one week after Captain America: Civil War. (It’s also the same date as the next Friday the 13th film, but that hardly seems like reason for concern.) Are you looking forward to Neighbors 2?
