First Look at Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs

Just one week after starting production and announcing the full cast for Danny Boyle’s upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, Universal Pictures has also set a release date for the film. It will hit theatres on Oct. 9th, 2015, which should put it in the mix for awards season and a potential premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Now this week the first photos of Michael Fassbender and Seth Rogen have leaked online, giving us a good look at their take on Jobs and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak respectively. It’s pretty clear that Fassbender doesn’t entirely look the part, but does that really matter? Ashton Kutcher was a dead ringer for Jobs and look how his film turned out.     Visual resemblence is nowhere near. But his acting abilities will make up for everything.

    I generally prefer when they don’t go overboard to make the actor look like the real person or necessarily try to perfectly mimic body language, it takes a fair bit of the load off, and lets me just enjoy the performance.

    The exception of course is Justin Timberlake in THE SOCIAL NETWORK who nails the look, the speech, and rhythms of Napster’s Shawn Fanning in a way that is pleasurable and uncanny.
